As one asbestos trial comes to an end in Madison County, another begins. Back-to-back asbestos trials are rare, especially since many settle out of court before making it to trial.

First Trial

The first trial was settled for an undisclosed amount just before closing arguments were about to begin. Chester Black, the plaintiff in the case, sued Georgia-Pacific and John Crane after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma in May 2006.

According to Black’s complaint, he suffered exposure to asbestos while working with or around products manufactured by the companies that contained the hazardous fibers. Black was seeking damages in excess of $400,000.

Second Trial

The second trial began last Tuesday and is expected to come to a conclusion this week. The plaintiff in that case, John Larson, was diagnosed with mesothelioma in November 2006. He claims he was exposed to asbestos through his father’s clothes, which carried asbestos dust.

Diagnosed with Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is a deadly form of cancer that is thought to be caused exclusively by asbestos exposure. If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, contact an attorney today. You may be entitled to compensation for your losses.
