Man with Mesothelioma Files Suit

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

A man who has been diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma has filed a lawsuit, with the help of his wife, against 39 companies.

The suit includes four companies that have done, or are continuing to do, business in Kanawha County.

Couple Blames Companies for Illness

Texas residents William and Carmel Bradbury filed the suit after William was diagnosed with the asbestos related disease, mesothelioma, in June.

The suit claims that his illness is the result of his exposure to asbestos while working in West Virginia.

Nitro Industrial Coverings Inc., and Union Boiler Company are among the companies named in the suit.

The Allegations

According to the suit, William has sustained a severe illness and has been required to get constant medical treatment for his exposure to the harmful substance.

Carmel says she has lost the support and companionship of her husband as a result of his illness.

She also states that she has been giving her time to care for her husband.

Couple Seeks Compensation

The Bradbury’s are seeking compensatory and punitive damages in the lawsuit against the West Virginia companies.
